Youtuber/entrepreneur Jamal Edwards has sadly died at the age of just 31-years-old.
Youtuber and Entrepreneur Jamal Edwards Dies Aged Just 31-‘Jamal Edwards Was An Inspiration To So Many’
Jamal, for his part, had made major waves in the entertainment industry by being the founder of SBTV. The former music platform has been instrumental in the rise of some of the biggest music stars to this day including none other than Ed Sheeran himself.
And his role in the industry was recognised when he received an MBE from the Royal family in 2014. Not only that, but he had become an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, a charity run by Prince Charles, to help young people create their own companies.
It is not clear what led to his cause of death, but the very fact of the matter is that he clearly went before his time. As a result, several high-profile stars came out to express their condolences at what has been the loss of an influential person.
Adam Deacon, who happens to be an actor and friend of Jamal, had this to say: “Today I was on set when I found out the tragic news that my good friend Jamal Edwards had passed away and I’m honestly heartbroken.
“Jamal was one of the nicest, most down to earth and humble men I’ve met in this industry. He always gave me time.” Much in the same way, the response on social media was also one of sadness.
Large numbers of fans recognised that his music platform gave an opportunity to up-and-coming artists to get their name out there, which they would not otherwise have had given that major record labels often focus on short-term success.
One user wrote: “We’ve lost a legend today. Jamal Edwards was an inspiration to so many, supporting artists and shaping culture through @SBTVonline. Sending our condolences to Jamal’s family & community.”
Jamal may no longer be here, but he left behind a legacy that will continue in his absence. And hopefully for those who carry on the work that he has already put in place, they can launch the careers of other stars, which is no doubt what Jamal would have wanted.
