Meghan Markle and Prince Harry recently received a special awards invitation for their philanthropic efforts from the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) Image Awards.
Harry And Meghan Remained Committed To Their Charitable Projects Despite Their Resignation
Derrick Johnson, the President of NAACP confirmed the bestowment of the award on the couple through a statement that read: “ We’re thrilled to present this award to Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who together have heeded the call to social justice and have joined the struggle for equity both in the US and around the world.”
Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Set To Be Rewarded For Their Humanitarian Efforts
Despite the public lashings that Harry and his wife, Meghan have endured since their infamous resignation from the royal family, the couple have remained committed to several charitable projects in the United Kingdom and the United States.
They have continued to sponsor several humanitarian projects regardless of their lack of financial backing from the British monarchy, which was cut off in 2020 after the couple relinquished their royal duties for private life in the US.
Reacting to the award via a joint statement, the couple remarked: “It’s a true honour to be recognised by President Derrick Johnson and the NAACP, whose efforts to propel racial justice and civil rights are as vital today as they were nearly 115 years ago.”
Meghan Markle and her husband, Prince Harry became arguably the most controversial couple in the history of the British royal family when they infamously resigned as top-ranking members of the royal family in early 2020.
Although Prince Harry has visited the UK on a few occasions, Meghan Markle has not stepped a foot in the United Kingdom since they moved to the United States and looks settled in the US. The couple tied the knot on 19th May 2018 in a glamorous wedding at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, the UK. They have two kids together.
