Actor Ben Affleck and actress Jennifer Lopez have gotten engaged for a second time after their first engagement was called off more than a decade ago. Lopez announced to her fans via a video that she shared on her JLo fan newsletter on Friday, April 8.

The actress cum singer had earlier posted a video on her social media accounts with the caption “Major announcement!!!!” In the video, Lopez was admiring the ring on her finger and she whispered, “You’re perfect.” She also added a ring emoji to her Twitter handle.
Lopez and Affleck formerly started seeing each other in 2022 and got engaged about four months after. They were set to get married in September 2003 but postponed it just days before the ceremony. The couple however called off their engagement in 2004. After the two separated, they still supported each other even as they led different lives and married different people.
JLo got married to Marc Anthony and had two children with him—a set of twins, Emme and Max; while Ben Affleck got married to Jennifer Garner and had three children—Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel aged 16, 13, and 10 respectively.
Recently, since the couple started seeing each other again in 2021, they have been spending time with their kids and getting to know them. When Lopez spoke about their split, she told PEOPLE why things are different with this new relationship is because they are now “older, smarter and with more experience” she also added that they have children now so they have to be “conscious” of a lot of things.
In December 2021, Affleck also spoke about being given “second chances.” He told WSJ Magazine that “I’ve had second chances in my career. I’ve had second chances as a human being. Life is difficult, and we are always failing and hopefully learning from those failures.” He also added that ” I haven’t always been successful but in cases which I have, they’ve turned out to be the defining aspects of my life.”
