Alberto El Patron—better known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE and El Patron elsewhere—will be returning to major lucha libre promotion AAA.
Alberto El Patron Is Scheduled for Action at AAA TripleMania XXX
In a FanByte report, it was revealed that AAA booker Konnan is interested in having Alberto El Patron at TripleMania XXX as “a big name, a surprise” was needed for the event.
Last year, El Patron was involved in a domestic dispute at his San Antonio residence and also vowed to out ex-fiancée Paige as a domestic abuser on Hannibal TV. Needless to say, if El Patron has a person to handle his PR, that person got a significant pay increase. The domestic dispute charges were dropped because an important witness was missing.
As for him being at TripleMania XXX, he is booked in night one of the three-night event. El Patron will be tagging with Laredo Kid against La Facción Ingobernable (Dragon Lee and Dralistico) and the team of Taurus and Johnny Superstar—who isn’t just going under Johnny Mundo.
It was pointed out that Alberto El Patron wasn’t the first pick for Laredo Kid’s partner but visa issues fall under “card subject to change”. Also, there are no long-term plans for the former multiple-time World Champion but those inside AAA knew that he’d return to the company down the road.
El Patron made his wrestling debut in 2000 on an AAA show when he ran in to save his father, Dos Caras. He would leave in 2002 to pursue wrestling and MMA in Japan and wouldn’t return until 2014.
In that twelve-year period, he’d achieved success in WWE, Impact Wrestling, CMLL, and Lucha Underground. The former U.S Champion would stay with AAA until 2015 when he returned to WWE.
His last appearance at AAA’s biggest show of the year was at TripleMania XXIII in 2015. He was slated to appear at TripleMania XXVI in 2018 but a money dispute with owner Dorian Roldán axed those plans.
TripleMania XXX goes down Saturday, April 30. Will you be checking it out? Are you looking forward to seeing Alberto El Patron in action? As always: Let us know down below!
