Actress/ musician Janelle Monáe has dropped a major bombshell by confirming that she is non-binary.

The star, for her part, was always inquisitive over her sexuality. In 2018, she came out as a pansexual. Not only that, but prior to disclosing this, she also admitted that she identified herself as a bisexual.
And in keeping with that development of exploring her sexuality, Janelle let the fans know exactly how she viewed herself as more than just a female. In an interview on ‘The Red Table’ Talk, she said: “I just don’t see myself as a woman solely. I feel all of my energy.
“I feel like God is so much bigger than the ‘he’ or the ‘she. And if I am from God, I am everything…I just see everything that I am, beyond the binary.”
Once she internalised the decision over how she viewed herself, the next step that the star had to do was communicate this with her loved ones.
But this was easier said than done. Janelle did feel a little apprehension knowing that her family had always viewed her as ‘Janelle.’ And yet, when she informed them, it turned out to be much better than expected to the relief of Janelle.
She added: “I needed to talk to my dad, who was just great. My sister knew already because I’ve been in monogamous relationships…I couldn’t be little Janelle.”
The fans on social media were not too enthusiastic, however. People were of the view that Janelle had discussed this so openly throughout the years.
After all, her focus should be on trying to show more of her talent as an actress and a musician. One person wrote: “Didn’t she already come out a couple of years ago?”
Time will tell how Janelle’s revelations impact her going forward, but based on everything that we have seen so far, she is just happy to be comfortable with herself. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this?
