Britney Spears announced earlier this month that she is expecting a child with her fiancé Sam Asghari. While Britney has been vocal about her desire to add a baby girl to her brood, Sam would rather keep the baby’s gender under wraps.
During an interview with Access Hollywood, host Mario Lopez asked Sam if he intends on finding out whether the baby is a boy or a girl. “That’s up to [Britney], but I don’t want to. It’s something that I want to wait for,” Sam said.

Sam also offered up a bit of insight on his vision of parenthood, saying, “If it’s a daughter, it’s going to be the most spoiled princess ever. If it’s a son, it’s gonna be the toughest son. I’m gonna be tough on the kid,” before adding that he wants to be “hands-on as much as possible.”
The proud father-to-be also told Mario, “This is my baby, my first baby.” Britney already shares sons Sean Preston, 16 and Jayden James, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline. Britney took to Instagram on April 11 to announce that she was expecting a child with Sam.
“I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back… I thought ‘Geez … what happened to my stomach ???’ My husband said ‘No you’re food pregnant silly !!!’ So I got a pregnancy test and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby,” she posted.
A few days later, Sam confirmed Britney’s pregnancy in an Instagram post of his own, saying, “Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don’t take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do.”
Prior to the pregnancy announcement, Sam spoke about the possibility of fatherhood in an interview with BBC news. “Yeah, I mean it should have happened three years ago, to be honest with you,” Sam said of starting a family with Britney. “When you’re in a relationship with someone that you’re truly in love with, you want to recreate. So this is something that I want to do,” he revealed.
Britney’s baby news comes after a thirteen year long conservatorship that put her father, Jamie Spears, in charge of making personal and financial decisions for the star. According to Britney, she was forbidden from taking her relationship with Sam to the next level, and was even forced to go on birth control against her will.
“I would like to get married and have a baby,” Spears stated before explaining that her many requests to have her IUD removed were denied. “But this so-called team won’t let me go to the doctor to take it out because they don’t want me to have children. This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I deserve to have a life.”
