We are just coming off an insane night in New Japan Pro Wrestling, following Wrestling Dontaku 2022. It was a very BULLET CLUB heavy night, including the return of Jay White, Doc Gallows, and Karl Anderson to Japan – and a new member joining in Juice Robinson. We also saw several titles change hands, with Hiroshi Tanahashi notably claiming his third reign as IWGP United States Champion. Will Ospreay was unable to make the show to challenge Tanahashi, but has an idea of how to handle the belt at the upcoming Capitol Collision event in the United States.
Will Ospreay Has A Great Idea For A Match
Following missing NJPW Wrestling Dontaku due to testing positive for COVID-19, Ospreay took to Twitter to offer his thoughts on what should be next for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship. Ospreay had the following to say.
“Did you honestly think COVID was going to hold me down? I don’t even feel like I have it. Nevertheless, it’s May 1st. Now look at the picture. Look at the United States Title picture. The moment I want to go for the title, everyone wants the goddamn thing. I get it, I’m an influencer – everyone wants to be Will Ospreay. Guys, you gotta understand this. Mox is calling out Tana, Juice is cutting the line, you need to understand something.
I’m the one with a signed agreement for a United States Championship match with Tanahashi. But I’m not greedy, I’m going to share it with you guys. I owe Moxley a couple of slaps, Tanahashi got my belt, and Juice Robinson stayed in my house for six months – uninvited, you owe me rent boy.
So here’s what we’re gonna do. We’re gonna settle things the good ol’ fashioned way. Juice Robinson, Jon Moxley, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Will Ospreay – in a Fatal Four Way match for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship in Washington DC.”
Saving Big Matches For Forbidden Door
This is perhaps the best way to settle the cramped title scene, while saving big matches for AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door. Jon Moxley has been eager for a one on one encounter with Tanahashi for ages now, but that is a potential main event match for Forbidden Door. This fatal four way challenge brings a great match to DC, a potential show stealer and something unique for NJPW – but saves the bigger matches for a bigger night.
