That is according to Royal expert Robert Jobson. This claim arrives on the back end of Netflix having canceled Meghan’s cartoon series ‘Pearl.’
The cartoon had hoped to showcase the journey of a young, 12-year-old girl who had been inspired by female historical figures.
But given that the network was allegedly going through budget cuts, as a result of the declining number of subscribers on their platform, they decided to pull the plug.
And given that this could potentially happen to other ventures that the couple are working on, the pair may have no option but to take on things that they would not necessarily otherwise do.
In an interview with The Mirror, Robert said: “The couple may now face increasing pressure to come up with the goods, royal related goods too, to bring back Netflix’s subscribers.
“But the canceling of Meghan’s series proves one thing – their name and royal associations alone, doesn’t guarantee backing.” Nevertheless, Robert’s comments must be taken with a pinch of salt.
First of all, this is simply one project. Therefore, it can happen to anyone. But in this case, it simply happened to be the couple who were already facing heightened scrutiny.
Secondly, with the duo having so many other ventures including the Spotify deal, there is bound to be plenty of things to focus on. And yet, that could lead to the couple taking on projects at the expense of certain values.
Robert added: “Will Netflix demand more royal tittle tattle, from the prince and his wife? Are they prepared to sell-out even more? Only time will tell.”
Time will tell how Meghan and Harry respond to this Netflix move. But as of now, there is no reason to panic. And if anything, it may free up an opportunity for them to focus on something else.
