Camila’s problems with mental health were well-documented which came to the fore during her time making her third album ‘Familia.’ To make matters worse, the pandemic in general did not help things.
But given that there is a stigma surrounding the viability of therapy, Camila ultimately refrained from seeking the requisite help that she needed. And it reached a point where things started to get out of control.
In her comments, Camila said: “I felt really anxious even talking about those things because I think before I went on that journey I was almost scared to be found out, like, ‘This is weird, my brain is broken, this isn’t normal.
Things were also not helped by the problems that Camila was going through in her personal life. Her two-year plus romance with singer Shawn Mendes came to an end, which ultimately left her alone in dealing with the demons that she was experiencing.
While she did not reference Shawn when it came to discussing her mental health, one thing that she admitted was a turning point in her life was opening up about her issues as opposed to hiding them.
She added: “I think the best mental health advice that I’ve ever received is that faking or pretending is the worst thing for my mental health, personally. Saying the truth and being vulnerable.”
With that being said, Camilla decided to seek professional help. Soon, she had a therapist on board, which also resulted in her becoming a lot closer to Selena.
In the TikTok video here, the duo were pictured together having some drinks and a good time in general. And by having a support network in place, Camila felt more comfortable in dealing with the challenges that came her way.
