Rapper Gunna has turned himself in to police in relation to a gang-related indictment. The indictment also involves other members of the YSL—Young Stoner Life—label and collective as well as label head and rapper Young Thug.
Gonna, age 28, was booked into the Fulton County Jail around 2:30 AM on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. He is being charged with conspiracy to violate the RICO Act. As it stands, the 88-page indictment lists over 180 acts against 27 members of the YSL party.
Gunna Turns Himself In On RICO Act Charges in YSL Indictment
YSL label head Young Thug was arrested at his home on Monday, April 9, and charged with violating the RICO Act and participation in gang activity. These charges date back to January 2013 and May 2018.
It’s unknown what exactly Gunna—Sergio Kitchens—participated in but that will likely come out in the coming weeks as this is a big case. There are too many charges and many people involved for a clean sweep of all charges, after all.
It should be noted that this is a state indictment and not a federal one. In a press conference on the indictment, District Attorney Fani Willis said:
“As the district attorney of Fulton County, my number one focus is targeting gangs, and there’s a reason for that. They are committing, conservatively, 75 to 80 percent of all of the violent crime that we are seeing within our community.
It does not matter what your notoriety is or what your fame is. If you come to Fulton County Georgia, you commit crimes, and certainly if those crimes are in furtherance of a street gang, that you are going to become a target.”
