We discussed a German man selling forged COVID-19 vaccination cards. Keeping with a dastardly in Deutschland theme, a German woman was convicted of sexual assault after poking holes in the condoms of her partner–or stealthing.
Her sentence makes her the first woman to be convicted of stealthing, an act normally attributed to men. Stealthing typically involves removing the condom during sex without the partner’s consent. The judge in the case saw the acts of “Melanie T” as the exact same thing since her victims weren’t aware that she damaged the condoms.
German Woman Who Poked Holes in Condoms Convicted of Stealthing
In the incident that nabbed the 39-year-old, she had been seeing a 42-year-old man for casual hookups starting in 2021. Then she caught feelings for the man who didn’t feel the same.
She figured that the best way to keep him is to have a child with him and began poking holes in his condoms. As it happens, “Melanie T” kept striking out on the baby front.
Eventually, the victim called it a day on his time with her. She would make a last-ditch play and contact him over WhatsApp with the news that she was pregnant. She also admitted to damaging the rubbers which prompted him to press charges.
This proved a problem for prosecutors since there wasn’t a specific definition for what Melanie T had done. All that they knew was that there was a crime but what could it be prosecuted under was a different story. That is until Judge Astrid Salewski came across stealthing while looking into the case.
In her decision, Judge Salewski stated:
“This provision also applies in the reverse case. The condoms were rendered unusable without the man’s knowledge or his consent. No means no here as well.”
Melanie T was handed a six-month suspended sentence for her actions.
