Scorpio Sky has finally moved past dealing with Sammy Guevara & Frankie Kazarian, and has a fresh faced challenger up next. Dante Martin would answer the open challenge, and after taking Hangman Page to the limit over the AEW World Championship? Sky would be wise to not overlook this high flying challenger.
Scorpio Sky Retains TNT Champion, CM Punk Championship Situation Cleared Up
Sky would try to corner Martin to start the match, before grabbing a headlock. Martin would shove Sky off, before Sky ran him down with a shoulder tackle. Sky offered a hand to Martin before trying to kick him in the chest. Martin would block and hit a quick armdrag, before being struck to the outside.
On the floor, Martin would hit some weak looking strikes, before learning why Sky is hanging out with the killers of American Top Team. Body shots would land, but Sky let Martin recover. A double leg takedown would get Martin on the mat, before some strikes to the face. Sky would apply the chinlock, before hitting a PK to the spine.
Martin would finally throw some good forearm blows, before sending Sky to the outside with a dropkick. Massive splash to the floor would land, before hitting the big shotgun dropkick for the two count in the ring. Tony Khan would announce a Battle Royale, and the winner faces #1 ranked Jon Moxley at Forbidden Door to name an Interim AEW Champion. CM Punk is NOT vacating the belt! He will remain champion, with only a 6-12 week recovery period set. Obviously this situation could change, but AEW are betting on his surgery going well.
Back in the ring, Sky would set up his finisher, nailing the TKO for the finish. The match was secondary to how the World Championship scene pans out, and we will see a Unification match between CM Punk and whoever walks out of Forbidden Door as the Interim AEW World Champion.
