With just days to go before Double or Nothing 2022, there’s an open spot in the finals of the Women’s Bracket with the Owen Hart Memorial Cup. Britt Baker has already punched her ticket with a win over Toni Storm, and now tonight Ruby Soho & Kris Statlander will see who pushes forward. Soho is looking to redeem a loss to Baker at Grand Slam 2021, while Statlander hopes to show her new persona is not to be taken lightly.
Scorpio Sky Gets Custom TNT Championship, Mixed Trios Match Set For Double Or Nothing
First, we’d check in on the TNT Championship. Last week, Sammy Guevara & Frankie Kazarian thought they got one over on Scorpio Sky when they stole and smashed the TNT Championship. However, Dan Lambert is friends with many belt makers – and was able to quickly commission a custom TNT Championship to suit Sky better than the blinged up belt that Guevara favoured. Tonight, this new belt will get revealed to AEW fans – and the era of Sky will finally begin.
Adorned with Purple & Gold, Sky would get his own LA Lakers style title. He has a belt that matches his talent, but can’t seem to get past Sammy Guevara & Tay Conti. Speaking of them, they broke into the American Top Team’s gym. They would start to steal and smash up the place, taking whatever belts they want. If the American Top Team wants their belts back, they can find Guevara, Conti, and Kazarian in Vegas.
It’s going to be a mixed trios match, as Men Of The Year & Paige VanZant take on Sammy Guevara, Frankie Kazaian and Tay Conti. However, if they lose – Guevara & Kazarian can never challenge for the TNT Championship again. High stakes for a match in the fight capital of the world.
Ruby Soho & Kris Statlander Leave It All In The Ring
Statlander would start the match by taking Soho to the mat, but Soho had a counter to the side headlock. Soho tried to grab a rear waistlock, but was easily thrown aside. Statlander would give Soho a free shot, before Soho refused to make the punch.
Friendship has no place in a high stakes match, and Statlander would try to bring this serious side of Soho out. A kick to the previously injured knee of Statlander would show this, before Statlander ran her down with a lariat. Delayed vertical suplex would be held by Statlander, before a pinfall for a two count.
A grounded cobra clutch would be blocked by Soho, before a bodyslam and splash in the ring. Soho would hit some elbow strikes to the jaw, going shot for shot with Statlander. Statlander blocked a DDT from Soho before getting a near fall off a powerslam.
Soho would fight out of a top rope attack with frankensteiner, before Statlander shot back with a powerbomb. No Future Kick would land on Statlander, who stumbled out of the ring. Statlander was pulled back into the ring, before Soho went up top. Soho would come down with an armbreaker, before looking for a Double Wrist Lock.
Statlander fought free before a Chaos Theory German Suplex, and the sitout driver for a near fall. SpiderCrab would be attempted, before Soho kicked away at the shoulder. A roll up from Soho would get her the pinfall, and a shot at redemption.
