The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife came to an end recently after the jury reached a verdict. According to the verdict, Johnny won all cases against Amber Heard and was awarded $15 million in damages. While it’s all been a celebration for Depp’s fans, Stenographer Judy Bellinger for the court has revealed some of the events of the trial.
In an interview with Law & Crime Network, Bellinger said that some of the Jurors slept during some periods in the trial. “There were a few jurors who were dozing off.” She also added that the sleeping Jurors occupied both the front and back rows. “and it was tough, there were a lot of video depositions and they would just sit there and all of a sudden id see their head drop.”

The source from the court also stated that it was unfortunate that the juror who paid the most attention did not have a say in the ruling eventually. “Unfortunately, the one alternate that was on there, she was probably the one that listened the most. I watched her facial expressions; she was deeply into every word that was being said. I thought she would’ve made a great juror, and she did not get to see it to the end.”
While Johnny’s reaction to the news was that of relief as he claims the “jury gave me my life back,” Heard has expressed heartbreak over the verdict. Elaine Bredehoft, Heard’s attorney, said on the Today show that Heard was “demonized” by the effect of the social media’s favor of Depp. Bredehoft pointed out that although Jurors would have been instructed not to research the case or check social media but “how can you not?
They went home every night, they have families, the families are on social media… there’s no way they couldn’t have been influenced by it.” The Attorney also added that due to the online influence, “it was really lopsided” as she was “against cameras in the courtroom” and she had gone on record with that and made an argument against it. But nothing seemed to change.
