An unidentified man armed with a gun, knife, pepper spray, and tools meant for breaking into Brett Kavanaugh’s home was arrested in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, June 8. Police officers stopped the man as he neared the Supreme Court justice’s Maryland house, and when he was questioned the man is said to have confessed that his intention was to kill Kavanaugh.
Law enforcement officials released a brief statement confirming the apparent murder plot, stating, “At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh.
Armed Man Arrested Near Brett Kavanaugh’s Home, Had Plans To Kill The Supreme Court Justice
He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District.” The man came all the way from California to the suburban town of Chevy Chase, Maryland, where the Supreme Court justice lives with his wife and two young daughters. The man traveled by taxi to allegedly seek vengeance on Brett Kavanaugh after being enraged by the recent Roe vs Wade leak. Kavanaugh’s staunch conservative views regarding abortion rights had likely angered the suspect.
Police were apparently tipped off of a possible threat via a 911 phone call before the armed man had a chance to inflict harm on Kavanaugh or anyone else. The man, who is said to be in his mid-20’s, was in possession of multiple weapons as well as burglary tools.
The unhinged man was placed under arrest after he had made threats against Kavanaugh’s life while speaking to police officers. In addition to the man’s anger about the ongoing abortion debate, it is believed that he was also upset about the rising number of mass shootings over the country.
Brett Kavanaugh has always been a polarizing figure to the public since being confirmed to the Supreme Court by Donald Trump despite an onslaught of backlash. After word of his nomination to the Supreme Court was made public, a woman conveniently accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in the early 1980’s while they were in high school.
A deep-dive was done into Kavanaugh’s past and he was found innocent of all allegations by a court of law, ultimately solidifying his lifetime appointment to the court.
The Supreme Court Police have noted a “significant increase in violent threats” against members of the court in recent months, including threats that have been made on social media. The FBI is said to be currently investigating the man as well as the threats he made to kill Brett Kavanaugh.
