There’s a new development—actually several—in the death of Gabby Petito at the hands of Brian Laundrie in late August 2021. Brian Laundrie would disappear during the investigation into his fiancée’s murder the following month. His parents would report him missing that same month before his remains were discovered in October 2021 in a Florida reserve.
A Diary Confession from Brian Laundrie Says Gabby Petito’s Death was Merciful – Claims Gabby Had Gotten Injured Before Her Demise
One of the pieces of evidence found in Brian’s belongings was a notebook—a diary—featuring an 8-page confession. Fox News would obtain the confession which is just coming out after eight months—and just as the lawsuit hearing against Laundrie’s parents gets underway.
Laundrie starts by lamenting that Gabby was gone, the memories they’d lost, and a future that was destroyed because of his actions. He goes on to apologize to her family and explains that she’d been injured while they were out hiking.
From Brian’s account, the two were trying to hurry back to their car and had to cross some streams or a creek. It was dark and cold out when he claims “I hear a splash and a scream.” Gabby had fallen and hurt herself and he attempted to carry her once he found her.
However, with it being dark, cold, and Gabby being wet—this just wasn’t a good situation for either of them to be in. According to Brian, he knew he wouldn’t be able to carry her the rest of the way since he had no clue how far their car was from where they were located.
In his recollection, Brian Laundrie claims that Gabby Petito couldn’t tell him where she was injured but he observed that she had a bump on her forehead that grew in size and that she was constantly in pain. The following was transcribed by Heather Monahan of WFLA Tampa:
“Her feet hurt, her [wrist] hurt but she was freezing, shaking violently. While carrying her she continually made sounds of pain. Laying next to her she said little, [lapsing] between violent shakes, gasping in pain, begging for an end to her pain. She would fall asleep and I would shake her awake, fearing she shouldn’t close her eyes if she had a concussion.”
Brian then says that he made the decision to end Gabby’s life because he felt that she would’ve wanted as she was in misery. He felt that it was merciful but would say that he’d made a mistake in doing so:
“I ended her life, I thought it was merciful, that it is what she wanted but I see now all the mistakes I made. I panicked, I was in shock. But from the moment I decided, took away her pain, I knew I couldn’t go on without her.”
What do you think about the confession of Brian Laundrie? Had Gabby been seriously injured and he gave her a merciful death? Or was he lying and wrote the note to explain away his actions and protect his family? Share your thoughts in the comments.
