Paul Walker’s daughter, Meadow Walker, has shared her personal experience regarding abortion while speaking out against the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade. The recent ruling has caused quite an uproar, as a woman’s right to have an abortion will now vary by state, leaving many understandably outraged.
The daughter of the late actor took to Instagram to express her thoughts on the ‘profound injustice’ while revealing that she once opted to receive an abortion in 2020. “Today marks a huge setback in history – a profound injustice to women across the United States,” she began. “There are countless women who have struggled with making the decision to have an abortion. I too have battled with the choice but in 2020, when the world was collapsing during the pandemic, I sought an abortion.”

Meadow, 23, went on to define her decision as a ‘very private and personal experience’ while she continued her emotional statement. “I was lucky enough to have a great doctor who supported me through the debilitating process- with their help, I am able to be the happy and healthy person I am today,” she confessed before saying, “Now, knowing even more women won’t have the opportunity to seek safe termination and choose their bodies first is absolutely heartbreaking.
In a world that constantly marginalizes females, this feels like the biggest assault of them all.” She ended her declaration with a poignant message, stating, “Banning abortion doesn’t prevent abortions, it prevents safe abortions.”
Meadow, who became engaged to her fiancé Louis Thornton-Allan in 2021, did not have to disclose such intimate aspects of her personal life with her 3.7 million followers, but she certainly highlighted how deeply she is affected by the Supreme Court’s recent ruling. But Meadow’s sentiments on the matter weren’t unanimously agreed upon by all of her followers, prompting her to make a follow-up post on her Instagram stories to address the backlash she got.
“The amount of hate comments I’ve received on this post is unbelievable. Please unfollow me if you don’t agree with my values. Do not stay around to comment horrible things,” she wrote.
The topic of women’s rights and their freedom to have an abortion is they so choose is a tense one to say the least, but the overturning of Roe v Wade is expected to be met with major blowback from all over the United States. “The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” the decision declared.
Many other celebrities, both men and women alike, have been outspoken opponents of making abortions illegal on a state-by-state basis. Stars such as Taylor Swift, Seth MacFarlane, Sophie Turner, Viola Davis, Bette Midler, and Kim Kardashian have all expressed their concern and disbelief that women are being faced with such harrowing issues in modern-day America.
