Pope Francis has come out to condemn abortion in the aftermath of the overruling of Roe v Wade.
The Pope LAMBASTS ABORTION By Comparing It To Assassination Following Overruling Of Roe v Wade-Like ‘Hiring A Hitman To Solve A Problem’
The US Supreme Court’s decision has now allowed individuals to states to decide whether or not abortion should be legal. And as part of that process, it has removed the previous Federal right to have an abortion across the board.
Although that may have been the case, it has led to protests emerging in the United States with a certain subset of the population deeming this as a curb on freedom of choice.
Much in the same way, the Pope’s comments on the issue are only going to exacerbate that division. With that being said, he backed the recent overruling of Roe v Wade.
In his comments, he said: “[Abortion is like] hiring a hitman to solve a problem.” The Pope’s words are bound to have some impact, given that he is the head of the Catholic Church.
He expanded on his belief that life ultimately began at the moment of conception, irrespective of what scientists or those who advocate abortion may have to say on that matter.
As a result, he felt it was his duty to speak up on a matter of such grave importance. Failure to do so would have otherwise relegated his role and the Catholic Church’s role in general.
His following comments confirmed as much: “When the Church loses its pastoral nature, when a bishop loses his pastoral nature, it causes a political problem. That’s all I can say.”
The response on social media was mixed. While some people did resonate with his views, they were also of the view that the Catholic church did not exactly hold itself in high regard following its problems with sexual abuse scandals.
One person wrote: “Ahhh gotta love it when pedophiles try to lecture others.” It is safe to say that this issue is more divisive than ever, and that is not going to change anytime soon.
