Britney Spears has hit out at the documentaries that have been released about her life.
Britney Spears Condemns Americans Over Documentaries That ‘Bullied’ Her-‘The Only Person Who Was Treated Much Worse Was Michael Jackson’
In an Instagram statement that has since been deleted, Britney did not hold back on the negativity she had received. So much so that she compared it to being ‘bullied’ during the most difficult period of her life that was clouded by the 13-year conservatorship.
Not only that, but the singer claimed such documentaries were against her interests. This was on the grounds that Britney was not financially recompensed for them, coupled with the fact that the pieces were under the false guise of helping her.
And it is not surprising that Spears had enough. In her comments, she had said: “America…this nation has been one thing and one thing only to me-a bully.
“And come on seriously is it honestly legal to do that many documentaries about someone without their blessing at all??!”
The fact that Britney mentioned issues of legality is something to keep a note of. Even in the aftermath of her conservatorship victory, she has been at loggerheads with her father Jamie Spears.
While Britney wants to hold him accountable on the basis that he played a key role behind the conservatorship, Jamie has responded on the basis that the musician has been spreading false claims about him bugging her bedroom.
The fans on social media resonated with what Britney had to say. A significant proportion of people felt she had been hard done by, even in the aftermath of her wedding to Sam Ashgari.
One person wrote: “The only person who was treated much worse was Michael Jackson. No one else could relate to what she’s been through leave the girl alone.”
Britney has shown time and again that she will not stay silent, and she has a fanbase that will support her even if she has become divisive at points.
