We all know that Amber Heard’s financial situation is not good. Especially now after the Johnny Depp defamation trial. Moreover, it looks like the chances of improving it in the near future are not likely as well. However, nobody thought that it is as bad as she now claims it to be.
Amber heard surprised the public, this time by declaring bankruptcy after not having the money to pay up Depp the amount she owes him.
Why Had Amber Heard Filed For Bankruptcy Now? – Is All This Staged So She Can Avoid Paying To Johnny Depp?
The defamation trial has been of a public character. And that is what ‘harmed’ Amber’s reputation the most. Her ‘gaffes’ and staged crying had become meme material used all over the world. The once liked and loved actress had become a subject for laughing and disgust.
When the trial ended, the judge and jury had decided that the nature of the Washington Post article starring Amber Heard was indeed defamatory. Its publication was intentional with one purpose. To harm Johnny Depp and ‘ruin’ his reputation. On the trial, it has been revealed that there have been no signs of domestic violence and that most of the evidence that Amber had provided was staged, or fake.
With this, Amber received the bad news as well. The court had delivered a verdict according to which she needs to pay $10 million in damages to the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. The court also ordered Depp to pay $2 million as compensation to her. After all the acting, after the 6-week trial, now, Amber needs to pay a total of $8 million.
Since then, Amber Heard had done everything in her power to try to bring the decision of the court down. She claimed that one of the jurors was biased, that the fine is too high, and when she saw that there is no getting out of the situation she decides to file for bankruptcy.
“We believe the court made errors that prevented a fair and First Amendment-compliant verdict. Therefore, we are appealing the verdict.” – Amber’s legal team states.
With the filing for bankruptcy, Amber is seeking a nullity of the judgment. If she doesn’t have the money to pay, it is logical that she won’t pay. Is she doing this on purpose? If she doesn’t have the money, she has several real-estate owning that she can liquidate.
Johnny Depp’s response to all this is that he will not back up from the judgment. He is not letting go of the debt.
“The verdict speaks for itself, and Mr. Depp believes this is a time for both parties to move on with their lives and get back on their feet. But if Ms. Heard is resolute to continue the litigation by appealing the verdict, Mr. Depp will file a concurrent appeal to ensure that the Court of Appeals considers the full record and all relevant legal issues.” – Johnny Depp’s legal team told CNN.
