When David Finlay would defeat former tag team partner Juice Robinson – he made a smart move. Robinson has been carrying around the IWGP United States Championship like it was his, when in reality – Ospreay is the legal champion. This would put Finlay in the head of Ospreay tonight, as he looks to take down The Commonwealth Kingpin and continue his winning ways in this tournament. However, he’s also pissed Ospreay off – and pissing off one of the roughest strikes in the game is not always a wise idea.
Will Ospreay Starts Fast
This one would start fast with an exchange of forearm smashes, quickly becoming a slugfest. Finlay would run Ospreay to the floor with a lariat, before some more strikes would be thrown. Ospreay was driven into the barricade, before this one went back to the ring – and Finlay was sent from the apron and into the barricade with a simple chop.
Ospreay would follow up with a body slam in the ring, before dropping the knee on the jaw of Finlay. An armlock would be applied in the middle of the ring, with Ospreay bending the shoulders back and into the ring for a two count. Ospreay would spit on Finlay before stomping him into the corner.
Finlay would try for a hip toss, but was caught into a cobra twist. He’d fight free, before the flying uppercut would get him a two count. Ospreay would fire back with the Blast Kick, before a plancha to the outside saw him crash down onto Finlay.
David Finlay Brings The Fight
Back in the ring, Ospreay nailed the flying forearm smash – but would be unable to hit the Chelsea Grin. Irish Curse Backbreaker would land, before Finlay would set up the Superplex. Ospreay would fight his way free, before tossing Finlay to the mat. He’d be unable to follow up, and Ospreay was caught with the superplex the second time – with the ring nearly breaking after impact.
Finlay would be sent to the apron and nailed with the OsCutter, with both men crumbling onto the floor. They’d make the ring by 19, with Ospreay nailing a dropkick. OsCutter would land, but Finlay would kick out before hitting a Stunner for a near fall. Acid Drop would follow, but Ospreay was still able to kick out.
Jumping knee from Ospreay and Hidden Blade would be blocked, with Finlay nailing Trash Panda for the victory! Not only does that bring Finlay two more points, but also secures him a chance to make that IWGP United States Championship his down the line.
