Right now, we’re nearing the final stretch of the 2022 G1 Climax. A few names have remained solid in their scores, with the likes of Kazuchika Okada, Jay White, and JONAH flying high. Others like Zack Sabre Jr are close to elimination, but intend to go down fighting. However, ZSJ might have to keep his eyes on another potential opponent – as Bryan Danielson could be coming for him.
Bryan Danielson Has Been Wanting His Match With Zack Sabre Jr
Originally, Zack Sabre Jr has called out Bryan Danielson for a match at the crossover event between NJPW & AEW, Forbidden Door. Up until Bryan Danielson would be taken out of the event with a concussion, this was a confirmed match. However, a suitable replacement would be found – with Claudio Castagnoli making his AEW debut to defeat ZSJ.
Fans still yearn for that original match however, a battle between two of the greatest technical wrestlers in the world today. That could be on the way, perhaps as soon as the G1 Climax finals – a show which is about ten days away. The card for that event is largely unannounced, with the prospect of the finals of the tournament almost enough to sell out the iconic Nippon Budokan.
Anything Can Happen On A Big NJPW Event
While there is a chance that ZSJ is able to make the finals – claiming he’d cash in the resulting title shot in the UK against Jay White instead of waiting for January – but it’s sadly unlikely. However, last year during the finals – ZSJ was able to set up a grappling exhibition with Katsuyori Shibata, which was nearly more newsworthy than the main event of Kazuchika Okada vs Kota Ibushi.
History could repeat itself, as NJPW has been hyping up then chance that anyone could show up at this years event. Meanwhile, Danielson has gone quiet on social media – and could be planning a trip to Japan. This is exactly the type of move that Danielson would make, having been keen to work with NJPW and ZSJ for a while now. It’d be a major news event for the wrestling world, and a great step in the NJPW & AEW relationship.
