The career of Bryan Danielson has been a crazy one to follow in recent years. He was forced into retirement after a series of concussions in WWE, fought like hell to return to the ring – and would even regain the WWE Championship. Since then, he’s left WWE to join the fresh roster of AEW – instantly having five star matches with the likes of Kenny Omega, Hangman Page & Jon Moxley. However, old injury fears would follow him – after another concussion.
Bryan Danielson Was Scared A Doctor Would Force Him Back Into Early Retirement
During AEW Double Or Nothing‘s insane “Anarchy in the Arena” match, Bryan Danielson would suffer a concussion. This put him out of action for a while, forcing him to miss out on the joint show with NJPW – where he was set to wrestle Zack Sabre Jr. During a live episode of The Sessions podcast with former Talking Smack co-host Renee Paqette, Danielson would reveal what a doctor told him before his return to the ring.
“He said, ‘After you start feeling better, we’re going to have to have a serious talk about your long-term health.’ I thought what that meant was, ‘After you feel better, I’m going to talk to you about not wrestling anymore.’
Then my brain scans came back so goddamn good that not a single person could say anything about it.” said Bryan Danielson, “I do put a lot of work and effort into keeping my brain healthy and doing things outside of normal stuff to keep my brain healthy. I think that’s paying dividends a little bit
Danielsons return to the ring came during the July 27th episode of AEW Dynamite, where he lost to Daniel Garcia via referee stoppage in a brutal main event. His future role in AEW remains unclear at this time, though chasing the new AEW Trios Championships alongside fellow Blackpool Combat Club members Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta could be an option.
