The royal admirers are in for a surprising turn of events, given that Meghan married Harry in a lavish Windsor ceremony in May 2018. Following a whirlwind romance, the couple, who met in July 2016, announced their engagement in November 2017. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, however, announced their Megxit plans less than two years after their royal wedding. They initially preferred a half-in, half-out arrangement, but the Queen rejected the idea. Harry and Meghan’s royal duties then ended in March 2020.
Denée Benton Says The Royal Family Is Not Set Up To Support Meghan Markle
Actress Denée Benton recently expressed her dissatisfaction with the royal family’s current state of affairs. The Royal Family, she claims, is not “set up to support” the Duchess of Sussex. Meghan Markle is in for “an incredible amount of abuse” Says American Actress, Denée Benton
Being the first and only, you’re really set up for an incredible amount of abuse – the system isn’t set up to support you. “And I think that [because of] the lineage of the really profoundly devastating effects of colonisation as it relates to the monarchy, you can’t necessarily just pop a black person in.”
She continued to say, “Unless you’re ready to do that work, then the person who’s put in that position ends up suffering more than the changes they are able to make. It’s [going to take] much more than one person coming in to trigger all of that change. It doesn’t really work. They just get eaten alive or make the choice to protect themselves and [in the latter case], I’m like, power to you, sis!”
Meghan had earlier revealed details about her royal struggles in an explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021. She claimed during the interview that an unnamed member of the Royal Family – not the Queen or Prince Philip – made a racist remark about her son Archie before he was born.
