This is sad news. The US actress Anne Heche is dead, a week after the disastrous car crash she had. “We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend.” – a representative of Anne’s close family told TMZ. “Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy. Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”
The bad news had really come out on Friday when the hospital confirmed that the actress is already ‘brain dead’ as she was held on life support. The hospital decides to take her off of life support on the 12th of August and she immediately passed away.

Heche’s family and the public are deeply saddened as they will miss a mother, sister, and a friend. Hours after the sad news, Heche’s children released a statement and said their goodbyes to their mother.
“My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom.” – Homer Heche states. “After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I now have deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully, my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom. Over those six days, thousands of friends, family, and fans made their hearts known to me. I am grateful for their love, as I am for the support of my Dad, Coley, and my stepmom Alexi who continue to be my rock during this time.”
“Rest In Peace Mom, I love you.” – the older son, Homer Heche, concludes. Amongst the people that expressed their condolences to the family is Heche’s former partner Ellen DeGeneres. “This is a sad day. I’m sending Anne’s children, family, and friends all of my love.”
Of course, everybody that heard about the tragic accident that took place hoped that the situation will get better for the famous actress. Especially when initially the hospital released a statement that the actress is in ‘stable’ condition. There are testimonies from the fireman that took her out of the crashed car that she was completely sane. Reportedly, the actress spoke to them as they took her out of the vehicle.
Despite the fact that post-traumatically, initially she was in a stable condition, she lost consciousness 3 days later. On the 8th of August the hospital released a statement that the actress’s condition is ‘extremely critical’. The actress slipped into a coma and the hospital brought the bad news to the family. As she was an organ donor, her family decided to keep her on life support long enough to see if her organs could be donated.
The first major role that Anne Heche received is back in 1997, and she completely ‘killed it’. She played the girlfriend of Donnie Brasco in the movie of the same name, a character played by Johnny Depp. After that, her successes kept on piling up as she starred in the political satire Wag the Dog, Volcano, and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
Back in 1997, the now famous actress started off her relationship with the even more popular Ellen DeGeneres. They kept the relationship alive for three years before they broke up.
Amongst the meaningful works of the actress, we must point out her memoir. Memoir that she published in 2001, called ‘Call Me Crazy’. In the memoir, she reflected on her turbulent early life being one of five children in her close family. Midst the other things, she moved 11 times during her early childhood and this left a small, but a significant mark on her character.
The life of the actress was not as smooth as you’d imagine. Heche was just 13 when her father died of Aids. He contracted it from same-sex partners, according to the actress. Her father was a very abusive man, and he went to various extremes. As an example of his wrongdoings, Anne Heche confessed to being raped numerous times by him – leading to her contracting genital herpes.
Anne Heche was close to her late brother and her sister. However, she was never close to her mother as well. Her brother Nathan, died in a car crash several months after their father died. This made Anne to become depressed and cut all ties with her mother. Reportedly, Nathan did not die ‘by accident’ but that his crash was on purpose.
In 2000, reports state that Heche did reach the extreme of ‘completely losing her mind’, driving to a desert, walking a certain distance, and entering a stranger’s house. She entered the house with the excuse of taking a shower, however, after doing so, she refused to leave. She made herself comfortable in the living room and put on the TV to watch a film.
This was alarming to the person living in the house, and he didn’t have a different choice but to call the police. The police came and drove Anne to a psychiatric unit where she stayed for some time. Later reports claim that this trip was due to abuse of substances, ecstasy in particular. In her memoir, Anne reflects on this time as a time when she was finally sane and free, after being ‘insane’ for more than 30 years. Insane from the constant abuse she lived through from her father.
After the actress overcame all these situations she married Coleman Laffoon in 2001 and had her firstborn son Homer. The couple divorced in 2009. Heche re-married James Tupper and had her second child, Atlas.
