There’s a crazy situation with the D-Block in this year’s G1 Climax, as we’re perhaps on the way to a seven man tie in the block. The top point scorers are at six points, with David Finlay being the first man to hit that total. Tonight, YOSHI-HASHI looks to claim his six points tonight by defeating Finlay, and keeping what fans and English commentary has called Operation Chaos alive. However, Finlay will be keen on just winning the match – and hope that allows him to win the block outright.
David Finlay Gets Taken Out With A Quick Roll Up
Finlay would force YOSHI-HASHI to the ropes to kick things off, and would allow a clean break. YOSHI-HASHI would be able to nail some of his signature heavy handed chops, before being dropped right on his heavily taped shoulder. Finlay knows that YOSHI-HASHI is hurting, and would have been a fool to not go after it.
He’d send YOSHI-HASHI down to the floor, and nail the plancha. YOSHI-HASHI would be driven right into the barricade, before being taken into the ring and stomped into the corner. Shoulder capture on the mat would keep the pressure on, but YOSHI-HASHI would get free with a rope break. He’d hit some chops with that hurt right arm, and was able to follow up with the Headhunter.
Kumigoroshi would be blocked by Finlay, before he’d be taken down with a backslide. Finlay would easily kick out before a trio of Irish Curse backbreakers for a two count. Rewind Kick would land from YOSHI-HASHI, but the Fisherman Buster was blocked into the Cutter for a two count. Finlay would follow up with an attempt at the Acid Drop – but YOSHI-HASHI would counter into a cradle pinfall for the victory!
This victory for YOSHI-HASHI keeps the madness of a seven way tie alive. What needs to happen to make this happen is that Juice Robinson needs to defeat Will Ospreay, and El Phantasmo needs to defeat Shingo Takagi. If this happens, everyone will finish the block at a 3-3 record, all finishing with six points. We don’t know how NJPW will resolve a situation like this, but some extra matches will be needed to see who will face the winner of C-Block.
Great-O-Khan Outwrestles Taichi
Neither Taichi or Great-O-Khan are in the running for the finals of the G1 Climax at this point, but tonight Taichi will finish up his tournament all the same. He’s got a chance to finish out with a respectable 3-3 record, but just 24 hours out from a hard battle with Jay White? Great-O-Khan comes into tonight with the advantage of being much more fresh tonight. It’s a battle for pride, as both men are basically locks for the G1 Climax 33 – but a win tonight could determine how the rest of their year will go.
Taichi would avoid some single leg takedown attempts from O-Khan, before O-Khan would try and lure Taichi to the mat. Instead, Taichi would hit a sumo wrestling pose – and this one would have went the way of Shiozaki vs. Fujita had the referee not stepped in. They’d finally lock up, with Taichi looking for a takedown, but O-Khan was able to block briefly – before being sent to the mat.
Taichi would set up the Yokozuna elbow smash, but O-Khan blocked into the Sheep Killer. O-Khan moved into the claw hold – and Taichi would respond with the Greco Roman Throat Hold. This exchange saw O-Khan win out, before being taken to the mat into the Gedo Clutch. Snap Suplex from O-Khan would be enough to force a quick pinfall, and this one was over!
