Elon Musk is in the limelight for quite some time now, and he seems to like it. His involvement in controversies doesn’t fail to pull his close relatives into the spotlight as well.
Recently we’ve heard about Elon’s dad, Errol Musk, being on an interview for an Australian radio show. Amongst numerous topics, he spoke about his son as well. When he did, it came as quite a shock to hear that Errol Musk is not proud of his son’s accomplishments.
What Did Elon Musk Say To His Father After He Said He Is Not Proud Of Him?
“Your offspring is a genius. He’s worth so much money and has created so many things, you can’t take that away from him. Are you proud?” – the host of the show asked the billionaire’s dad.
“No.” – his response shocked the host. “You know, we are a family that have been doing a lot of things for a long time, it’s not as if we suddenly started doing something.”
Errol then became a target for many critics, accusing him of being selfish. Elon on the other side got portrayed as a ‘weak’ person that is fueled in life only by his desire to satisfy his father.
However, this comes to an end now. It seems like he did an honest mistake and misheard, or misunderstood the question.
“I didn’t actually notice her question about being proud?” – Errol Musk told Daily Mail. “I thought she asked ‘were you expecting this coming?’. It was only when I listened to the recording afterward that I realized.”
Errol Musk says that Elon is aware that this was an honest mistake. He is aware that he is proud of him and that he appreciates his accomplishments. However, Elon did send him a message to tell him to be more careful when speaking publicly.
“Dad, the press play you like a fiddle so please keep quiet.” – Elon’s message to his father reads according to The Daily Mail Australia.
However, whether this is true or not, only Errol and Elon know. It is no secret that the father and son are not in a great relationship with each other.
Errol even told AFP while giving an interview that he is not in contact with his son and that the last time he met with him was six years ago. He did say some kind words about Elon however. Errol pointed out that his son is a caring person, and that he ‘takes care’ of him every now and then. He paid for his eye surgery, he arranged a birthday party for him, etc.
