An Oklahoma man was charged with the theft of over $12,000 in Pokémon cards. The culprit is Nicholas Garrison (24) who stole the cards on October 11, 2021.
Oklahoma Man Goes Full Team Rocket and Is Charged with the Theft of Over $12K in Pokémon Cards in Missouri
On that day, a Crestwood police officer came across Yeti Gaming where the front window was broken. Investigators picked up a bounty of evidence such as DNA, blood, and fingerprints from the crime scene but obviously, the would-be Team Rocket member was long gone. Surveillance footage would help in ID-ing the suspect.
Authorities would also find that Garrison used a hammer to break the storefront window. On October 21, 2021, he would be arrested during a traffic stop in Bedford, Texas with $12,257.50 in pilfered Pokémon trading cards.
His intent was to sell the cards in Texas but the Dallas PD was unaware of the theft in Missouri.
Garrison was eventually put behind bars in Madison County, Illinois where investigators were able to execute a search of his phone. There they found more evidence tying him to the robbery including searches for Yeti Gaming and directions to Missouri.
They also found texts where the thief discussed stealing the cards and trying to find buyers.
After failing to score a felony warrant from the St. Louis Attorney’s Office, the Crestwood PD found that Garrison was also linked to robberies in McPherson, Kansas!
In July 2022, a DNA test tied Garrison to the Crestwood burglary.
Nicholas Garrison was charged with second-degree burglary of $750 in property or more and first-degree on September 10. The damages totaled to roughly $2,000.
He is currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
