Over the past few years, Triple H has been able to bring back one of the most iconic matches from the world of WCW. WarGames was a concept originally thought up by The American Dream – Dusty Rhodes, and gave professional wrestling some of it’s most violent battles. Triple H would help to put a modern spin on it in the NXT brand – with a very solid track record behind the match type in WWE. Now, with Triple H in charge of the creative practices for the WWE main roster – he’s bringing it to the masses at Survivor Series.
Survivor Series To Introduce Main Roster Fans To WarGames
This would be announced earlier today, with Survivor Series: WarGames being the official name for the 2022 version of the classic premium live event. The press statement first reported by David Shoemaker of The Ringer would state the following.
“This marks the first time in history that WarGames matches will take place on a WWE-branded event.
The men’s and women’s Survivor Series WarGames matches will feature teams of WWE Superstars stepping inside a massive steel cage surrounding two rings. The match begins with one member from each team facing off, before additional competitors are added every few minutes thereafter. Once all Superstars have entered WarGames, a victory can be attained via pinfall or submission.”
This once again drives a wedge between the lineage of NXT & WWE – with it being hyped as the first WarGames match in WWE history.
The Bloodline Is Ready For War
The real question in what the men’s match will be is who will be facing down The Bloodline. The dominant faction currently contains Roman Reigns, The Usos, Solo Sikoa, Sami Zayn & Paul Heyman – giving five men to enter the match. Even if it ends up being four on four with Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship – The Bloodline is more than ready to go.
One potential unit that could face them down is Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Ridge Holland & Butch – with Butch having prior experience in WarGames matches as Pete Dunne. Seth Rollins could also form a group to try and take Reigns down a few pegs – and Rollins teaming up with the likes of AJ Styles, Johnny Gargano & Braun Strowman could form a real all-star team.
