A shocking incident occurred in Ottawa as a person burned to death outside the U.S embassy on October 4, 2022. Details are very sparse but there were earlier calls of a disturbance downtown.

On social media, the Ottawa Police confirmed that someone was on fire but that they died of their injuries. Authorities shut down traffic in the immediate area while an initial, on-scene investigation was done.
As of now, there have been no further updates about why this occurred or the identity of the deceased. It was reported that the Office of the Fire Marshall, the police’s arson unit, and the coroner’s office were looking into the incident, so expect details and a few answered questions in the coming days.
In a tweet, the Ottawa Police said that “nothing indicates the incident is related to the U.S. Embassy.”
