This is the foreign military unit that has formed part of the Ukrainian defence force in its war against Russia. And given that Conor is from a political family, that being his parents are Robert Kennedy Jr. and late Mary Richardson Kennedy, it seems he was looking to get politically active.
In the process of doing so, he allegedly only informed one US person about his motives. In addition, it is claimed that he only disclosed his real name to one Ukrainian person.
This was on the grounds of protecting those around him and to avoid any unnecessary alarm that may have emerged.
In a post to his fans on Instagram, he said: “Like many people, I was deeply moved by what I saw happening in Ukraine over the past year. I wanted to help.
“When I heard about Ukraine’s International Legion, I knew I was going, and I went to the embassy to enlist the next day.” This could have been a situation which put him in danger, but Conor has had no regrets about doing this.
He expanded on how he would take this step again and encouraged others to do the same. While it is not exactly clear what kind of role he played, the fact of the matter is that he urged others to do the same.
This is a risky policy, as governments have warned citizens not to travel to the area unless stickily necessary. And yet, Conor doubled down on his beliefs.
His following comments confirmed as much: “For now, I’ll only urge you to help in your personal capacity. Join the legion, help on the border, or send medical supplies.
“Every day, someone there sacrifices everything for a lasting peace. They can’t be asked to act alone.” Conor may have survived to tell the tale, but not everyone has had that same fate.
