Matt Stacy, the former advisor to Governor Kevin Stitt (R-Oklahoma) has been charged with 13 counts of drug trafficking. Stacy’s trafficking activity took place during the pandemic when he was appointed as the hospital surge advisor.

An investigation into the advisor revealed that Matt Stacy used his position’s pull to assist people from outside of Oklahoma establish illegal marijuana grow operations in the state. This was done by helping them get around the state’s laws.
It presents a real problem to Governor Kevin Stitt’s re-election bid and his campaign manager Donelle Harder issued a statement to Tulsa’s KOTV-DT. In it, the campaign expressed concern and disappointment in the advisor as it clashes with the state’s medicinal marijuana push.
The campaign has vowed to strengthen authorities to handle “bad actors” and will donate Stacy’s campaign contribution to charity. You can read the statement in full below:
“This is egregious and troubling, and there is no question Oklahoma’s marijuana legalization referendum created far too many opportunities for fraud, which is why Governor Stitt has been working with the legislature to strengthen law enforcement’s ability to track and stop bad actors. It’s terrible what is unfolding from a high-ranking official in the Oklahoma National Guard, and we will be donating Lt. Colonel Stacy’s past primary contribution to charity.”
