WWE Monday Night Raw continues following Ricochet’s defeat of Luke Gallows. Anderson and Gallows are bickering backstage until AJ Styles cuts them off. Tells them that a miracle could happen this Sunday – he meant to say Thursday – that Ricochet could well defeat Brock Lesnar and become WWE Champion. But they have to plant their flag of dominance once again. Aleister Black walks by and AJ Styles takes issue with his existence. Calls him to come over and gets in his face. Calls the OC the Official, the Original, the Only Club that matters… and without any warning, the three of them jump him! Stomp him into the floor! They walk off and Aleister pulls himself up off the floor. Now, out comes Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman!
After his music goes off, there’s an extended pop for Lesnar.
Heyman does his spiel and the crowd sings along with him. Paul Heyman says that for years people have been trying to come up with goofy little catchphrases, to brand themselves as WWE superstars and mainstream celebrities. Here’s a point nobody seems to get, Brock Lesnar does not need a catchphrase. The catchphrase is the fact that Brock Lesnar, since 2002, anytime that he wants to, reigns as your WWE Champion. Paul says that Brock Lesnar lacing up his boots and taking someone to Suplex City is a rare event, it doesn’t happen every night, so when it happens, it’s special.
So when he goes against Ricochet, the master of the Uppercut – Paul Heyman pantomimes Ricochet’s low blow and warns him that Lesnar owes him one – by very definition of him wrestling, it’s special. But this Thursday is more special than usual because the stakes have never been higher for a Brock Lesnar match. Why, you ask, and it’s a damn good question even for Canadians. Boos. Says no, thou shalt not boo thine advocate! More boos! Paul says that IF Ricochet should somehow defeat Brock Lesnar, then Ricochet goes on to WrestleMania to defend his title against Drew McIntyre!
And if that happened, the consequences would be enormous, groundshaking, changing everything about this year’s WrestleMania! In the same boisterous tone, he says that IF his aunt had balls, he’d be his uncle! He’s been wrong about one spoiler in seven or eight years. This is a spoiler, he will defeat Ricochet, he will defeat Drew McIntyre and be done with him and then you will realize, then, now, forever, your undisputed reigning WWE Heavyweight Champion of the World, Brock Lesnar!
