Matthew Perry, whom we know from Friends, the ’90s most popular sitcom has released a memoir in which he doesn’t shy away to tell everything as it was. This includes moments from the set of Friends, but it includes some more personal moments as well. As reported by global newsletters, the memoir ‘Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing’ has a story where the actor reveals the attractive Cameron Diaz slapped him in the face after a ‘salty’ joke on an unsuccessful date.
As Matthew Perry tells it, he met Cameron Diaz shortly after she split from her boyfriend at the time, Justin Timberlake. According to the actor, Cameron Diaz didn’t even like him ‘at all’ at the time. They were attending a group dinner together, where the actress didn’t hesitate to step on the alcohol and ‘got stoned immediately’.

The group of people, to which Perry doesn’t give more details started playing Pictionary after dinner. That is when it happened. Matthew Perry, who liked Cameron Diaz couldn’t resist the urge to say something ‘witty’ to her. She did not respond to this immediately but waited for a moment to ‘accidentally’ slap him in the face.
According to the actor, ‘stoned’ Cameron Diaz tried pointing at his shoulder with her hand and during that movement slapped him on the face.

The ‘Friends’ actor recalls a situation from his childhood when he allegedly beat up Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Another one is when he allegedly punched Chevy Chase in the balls.
‘Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing’ focuses mostly on Matthew Perry’s addictions. However, he did not exclude his dating life as well.
In the book, he recalls kissing Valerie Bertinelli in the ‘90s and talks about his split from Julia Roberts.
“Dating Julia Roberts had been too much for me. I had been constantly certain that she was going to break up with me.” – the actor said. “Why would she not? I was not enough and I could never be enough. Broken, bent, unlovable. So instead of facing the inevitable agony of losing her, I broke up with the beautiful and brilliant Julia Roberts.”
Matthew Perry talks about his addiction to opioids and alcohol and reveals the crazy amount of money that addiction had cost him. According to the actor, the total he’s spent on it is more than $9 million.
What is most important is that Matthew Perry is sober for more than a year and a half now. He had two near-death incidents that made him realize that he has a huge problem that needs solving.
