It can be difficult being the child of one of the WWE’s top stars and fan favorites, but Davey Boy Smith Jr. has done everything he can to move out of his father’s shadow and stake a place for himself in the company.
Unfortunately, things don’t always work out like we hope they will, and Smith’s brief run with the WWE ended abruptly and he doesn’t know why.
It’s often the case as many times someone’s let go without doing anything wrong, and that could be the case with Smith as he’s still unsure what went wrong.
During my chat this afternoon with Davey Boy Smith Jr. AKA Harry Smith he revealed prior to his 2021 WWE release he was booked to debut on SmackDown under the name 'The Stampede Stud'

Opening up
Smith signed with the WWE last year to begin another stint he hoped would be everything he dreamed of, but he competed in a few dark matched but never appeared on TV before his run came to an end thanks to the WWE’s Covid releases in November 2021.
Fans were excited to see him back in action and his appearance on the main brand, but that didn’t happen and he’s explained that he has no idea why.
He recently appeared on “The Total BeezSheez Show” to talk about his surprisingly short run in the WWE.
“Your guess is as good as mine. Honestly, I wish I could tell you more. I have no idea.
“I was kind of wondering where the run was going to because they were paying me. I was getting the most amount of money I’ve ever made my whole career to do nothing, so I wasn’t sure.”
What frustrated him the most was that he showed up in the best shape of his life.
What went wrong?
“I got up to 280 with six-pack abs and was training very hard. I’m totally spiritual also, so maybe my father and Owen and Dynamite and Stu were just kind of looking out for me.”
He appeared on Inside the Ropes where he talked about how he was told he would debut on Smackdown as “The Stampede Kid” and that his physique impressed Vince McMahon.
“I don’t know what they were waiting for, the only thing I was told was, I was going to be debuting on SmackDown and they were going to call me The Stampede Stud. It just never happened, it wasn’t my fault. I showed up more than in shape, I saw Vince and he was like, ‘oh you’re looking good kid.”
With the WWE in his rearview mirror for now, Smith is back with MLW and is scheduled to appear at MLW’s Fightland tapings on October 30.
