Prince Harry announced his memoir Spare and it was clear that it will raise numerous controversies. The publishers of the book told that it will be full of ‘raw and unflinching honesty’. However, after Queen Elizabeth’s tragic death, the publication has been postponed for a couple of months.
Rumors were that the postponing of the memoir had something to do with Prince Harry making changes in the content. He allegedly ‘filter out’ the stories about his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. But, Omid Scobie, Meghan Markle’s close friend claims that these changes did not take place at all. In addition to this, he claims that Prince Harry came up with the name of the memoir ‘Spare’ himself.
Allegations About Prince Harry Changing Content In His Memoir Spare Are Untrue According To Omid Scobie
Omid Scobie wrote a column for Yahoo recently. In it, he claims that “no last-minute rewrites or edits” to the memoir took place. According to Scobie, this is because Prince Harry finished the manuscript for the book about five months before Queen Elizabeth’s death. The ghostwriter finished the book back in April.
There will be one amendment to the book, however. On the first page of the memoir, Prince Harry will put in a note about Queen Elizabeth’s death.
Same as many critics and analysts of the royal situation and Prince Harry’s actions, Omid Scobie didn’t spare the prince from criticism. He said that the Royal line of succession is ‘bizarre and cruel’ for Prince Harry.
It is clear that the book will be as controversial as it can get. It is clear that Prince Harry will look to benefit from it (financially) as much as he can. However, while making money off it, the book might completely destroy Prince Harry’s relationship with his royal family. In fact, there are rumors that King Charles is already considering stripping him of his royal title.
The publishing house claims that the book depicts Prince Harry’s life story ‘accurately and truthfully’. The bombshell memoir will reflect on Prince Harry’s early days. It will include the period surrounding his mother’s death, and the period after, up until now. It will end with moments from happily married to Meghan Markle and living in the USA.
Prince Harry says that the book has his words even though he used a ghostwriter. He says he is “excited for people to read a first-hand account of his life”.
While critics point their fingers at Prince Harry, there are experts that point out that it is highly likely that Meghan Markle is the mastermind behind the memoir.
Regardless of who the mastermind behind it is, Prince Harry’s name will be on the book’s cover and he should bear the responsibilities coming with it.
