A new book by Christopher Andersen on King Charles III’s life shines some ‘bad’ light on him, as he is described as an aggressive and short-fused individual. The book describes King Charles’ life from his early days up until he became King a couple of months ago.
The book is rich with details on the marriage between King Charles and Princess Diana and gives ‘inside’ information on his temper and on that how he treated his wife at the time. Allegedly, the way King Charles treated Princess Diana and the level of obedience he asked from her was way more than what she or any other woman could offer.
King Charles Described As Angry And Short-fused In Biographies – Was There Domestic Violence In The Royal Family?
“He would drive people hard. Charles was full of ideas, always asking people to go and do things.” – one employee at the palace stated. “He also had a proper temper on him, which was quite fun. He would rarely direct it at the individual. It would be about something, and he would lose his temper. He would throw something. He would go from zero to 60 in a flash, and then back down again. Things would frustrate him, especially the media.”
Another employee at the palace reveals that the King was very ‘mean’ to the staff. According to one of the employees, this behavior was a result of King Charles being bullied in his early days at school.
“For someone who said he was allegedly bullied as a child, Charles clearly enjoyed bullying us. He could be nice and polite, but most of the time he was grumpy and mean. He didn’t think twice about shouting insults at you if you put a foot wrong.” – one of the gardeners explained the author of the biography.
According to Andersen, aside from being explosive with the staff, King Charles was the same with Princess Diana as well. The situation between King Charles and Princess Diana was so tense at all times, that on many occasions people working aat the palace worried about their safety.
“Her unhappy marriage was so capricious that the officers of the Royal Protection were afraid that any of them might get hurt.” – Andersen wrote in his book.
There were times when they argued and King Charles stayed angry at the Princess for days. He didn’t speak to her and didn’t sleep in the same room with her. When it comes to intra-marital obligations, he refused to do them as well. Reports claim Princess Diana chased him throughout the palace in order to get him to sleep with her.
“She literally chases her husband down the hallways, stairs, and room to room at the Highgrove House vacation home and asks him, ‘Why don’t you sleep with me?’ Prince of Wales ended their one-sided sexual relationship since the birth of Prince Harry, the younger of their two children, in 1984.”
What was most worrying for the royal bodyguards was that both King Charles and Princess Diana were aggressive and very loud when having an argument. Listening to the loud conversations and shattering noises behind closed doors, the bodyguards were on full alert. Usually, there are hunting rifles and handguns in all of the royal buildings. This just increased the chances of one of their arguments ending fatally.
According to reports Princess Diana regularly slept alone and cried herself to sleep. King Charles’ treatment made her suffer from insomnia and show eating disorders, sometimes refusing to eat for days.
“‘What is it now, Diana?’ Charles would implore. ‘What have I said now to make you cry?’” – the royal biographer Bedell Smith reports. “Again and again, he reassured her that his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles was in the past. He tried soothing Diana, but felt powerless to contain her emotional storms, which shocked him in their intensity and suddenness. At his wits’ end, he began seeking refuge in the Balmoral countryside with his paint-box, books, fishing rod and guns, but that only made his young wife even more aggrieved.”
There are reports that Princess Diana’s situation was so bad at one point that King Charles tried to arrange psychiatric help for her. Of course, Princess Diana refused it as she was paranoid that he wants to sedate her.
Even though there is no clear proof that there was physical violence present at the Palace, reports of verbal and emotional abuse were very often. King Charles was not feeling he gets the respect he deserves and did everything in his power to make Princess Diana pay for it.
“Feelings of emptiness and detachment tormented Diana; she feared abandonment; she had difficulty sustaining relationships, and she kept those closest to her on tenterhooks.” – according to Bedell Smith. “Ultimately, out of frustration, they abandoned her.”
It is highly likely that Princess Diana suffered from depression, anxiety, and a mild form of cognitive decline. Reports claim that while pregnant with Prince Harry she threw herself down the stairs. Furthermore, she cut herself with a knife, and a broken glass bottle. This paints a picture of a person that is far from being mentally healthy.
The psychological torture and the constant emotional terror culminated in Princess Diana and King Charles’ divorce. At the time, newsletters reported that the Queen urged them to separate and even ‘ordered’ for the divorce to happen.
As they split, their relationship started getting better. Better to a point where they could be in the same room and have a ‘normal’ relationship. Reports claim that King Charles even visited Diana on several occasions and consulted her about things concerning his two sons.
However, this did not last long. Couple of years after their split, Princess Diana lost her life in a car accident in Paris.
“When Charles heard the news about Diana’s death while being driven through a Paris tunnel with Dodi, he was distraught. At 7:15 am, when his sons awoke, he told them what had happened.” – Bedell Smith wrote in his book.
King Charles accepted the news about his ex-wife’s death with much concern about what the world will say. He was confident that the world will blame him for it. And many unusual and unexplainable details surrounded the accident. However, we might never find out what really happened.
