Eminem has recalled his 2007 overdose that almost took his life, as he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Eminem Recalls His 2007 Overdose-‘I Almost Died’
The rapper has been very vocal about his substance abuse issues in the past. And it became a particular problem when the star began filming for his movie, ‘8 Mile.’
During the course of that process, Eminem began to meddle with various drugs such as Vicodin, Valium, Ambien and Methadone. And things had gotten so bad that he was allegedly 230 pounds at the time of his overdose.
But through it all, the opportunity to make music is what ultimately brought him out of his dark times. In his comments, he said: “I realise what an honour it is right now to be here up here tonight, and what a privilege it is to do the music that I love.
“Music basically saved my life … I’ll keep this as painless as possible. I’m f–king stuttering and s–t.” That was not the only significant part of the event.
Eminem’s daughter, Haile Jade Mathers whom he shares with his ex Kim Scott, was also there to see her father. Not only that, but he also ended up being inducted by none other than Dr. Dre.
The two have made a significant number of hit songs through the years, which is why the moment was all the more memorable. And yet, Eminem could not help but throw out a few controversial comments about his overdose that almost took his life.
His following comments confirmed as much: “I almost died from an overdose in 2007, which kind of sucked…Hailie, plug your ears. Because drugs were f–king delicious.
“I thought we had a good thing going on, but I had to go and f–k it all up. Goddamn.” Eminem is arguably one of the greatest rappers of all time, which is why his story is even more moving to hear.
