Drug Trafficker and Football Scout Jordan McKinlay Sentenced in Scotland After Authorities Find Van Stocked with Over $510K in Coke
During the hearing, his co-conspirator in coke trafficking, Gary O’Connell (23) received four years in December 2021. According to the Police Service of Scotland, O’Connell moved the drugs between Scotland and England while McKinlay supplied the van.
The two men became a team after a mutual friend gave them some work to do—drug trafficking.
Investigators had watched O’Connell for some time as they were familiar with his trip to Blackburn and back to McKinlay’s Lanarkshire residence in April 2020. Authorities searched the van after McKinlay made off in a second van.
Upon deep inspection of the van, specialists with the authorities found a secret compartment in the first van that had nine blocks of cocaine inside.
McKinlay was caught at a shopping center in Easterhouse, Glasgow where the second van was searched. Another secret compartment was found with keys to the first van inside.
In a search of Jordan McKinlay’s property, authorities found a few of the infamous EncroChat phones which are used by drug gangs in Europe for business.
The final nails in their coffins were the messages between O’Connell and another individual discussing pick-ups for the narcotics.
