In unexpected crime news, a Winnipeg man was arrested after two incidents of robberies at a bus stop on Keewatin Street and Burrows Avenue. Jayden Israel Kennedy (18) attacked two men on November 2 and November 4, 2022 wielding a knife.
Winnipeg Police Capture Blade-Wielding Bus Bandit Jayden Kennedy Following 2 Robberies
On November 2, Kennedy robbed an 18-year-old man who waiting at the bus stop. In that incident, the victim received some serious injuries to his upper body. Initially, it was believed that a knife was used.
Without the second robbery and witness two days later at the same location, it might have been considered a random incident. That victim received no injuries in the November 4 robbery.
Perhaps Kennedy figured he had the perfect spot to farm victims since there will always be someone waiting at the bus stop at some time. Not only that but sometimes in waiting for the bus awareness of our surroundings and general alertness might not be that high.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Kennedy took advantage of this as he could’ve easily hung out at the bus stop and observed victims. On top of that, if he was familiar with the area—which it seems like he was—he’d know that he would likely run into his victim again if the time wasn’t right since they might have to ride it back to that stop.
A BOLO (Be On the Look Out) was issued for Jayden Kennedy and he was marked as armed and dangerous. On November 8, 2022, he was captured and remains in police custody.
