The Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) w/ Alex Reynolds & John Silver vs. SCU (Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky) w/ Christopher Daniels
This one has been bubbling under the surface for quite some time. These two teams did face off in the finals of the tournament to crown the inaugural AEW World Tag Team titles, but the story has evolved a lot since then. After his struggles with Pentagon Jr. and running into doubts as to whether or not he still has it, Christopher Daniels found himself in a bad state of mind. The kind of state of mind that the Dark Order always loves to play on, with their constant tagline, “Stop losing and start winning. Join The Dark Order.”
While they’ve sent this message out to practically everyone who finds themselves in losing ways, Daniels is a bit of special case. Rather than present it like they’re offering him a spot, the Dark Order have played it up like he’s already one of them. In fact, they’ve been teasing pretty hard that he might secretly be the Exalted One. The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels… funnily enough, he was for a brief time slotted to be the man revealed as the Higher Power way back when, and this seems to be playing on that history.
Now personally, I don’t believe for a moment that Daniels is going to turn on SCU and certainly I don’t think he’s the Exalted One. But you can expect that story to be played up here, with perhaps Daniels acting as though he’s being pulled between the two groups, only to side with SCU. To me, that sounds a lot like the setup for a finish, and perhaps for that reason alone, I’ll say SCU over.
The Dark Order have been protected a ton, and can absorb a loss – it’ll be easy enough for them to get their heat back once the true Exalted One is revealed, which seems like it’ll happen sooner than later.
