Power Rangers Star Jason David Frank Dead Aged 49
Jason introduced himself to the fan base through the portrayal of Tommy Oliver on the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,” franchise.
And as part of that process, Jason was capable of handling himself when it came to tackling things away from the TV screens.
He was a very accomplished mixed-martial artist. So much so that he went on to get himself a black belt. Not only that, he had a variety of skills including jiu-jitsu, Taekwondo, and Judo.
And it all came to a head when he was introduced into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame in 2003.
His death has had a profound impact in more ways than one. He leaves behind his four children, which were a result of two failed marriages.
Walter Jones, who happened to be a co-star with Frank, has been left shocked by the news. In a post to his fans on Instagram, he said: “Can’t believe it.
“RIP Jason David Frank. My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family.”
The response on social media was much the same. A certain subset of people sent out some warm words in light of the devastating news.
Meanwhile, others recalled how many positive memories they had experienced as a result of seeing Frank’s performances on the show.
One person wrote: “JDF was the reason I got into martial arts. I met him at a Con and thanked him for that. Hate that we lost him.”
While another person stated: “The character, Tommy Oliver, was definitely a part of my childhood. I remember watching him morph.”
Jason will be missed, and there is no getting away from that in light of the legacy that he managed to leave behind.
