The pair decided to part ways after reports that Gisele was unhappy with Brady’s decision to come out of retirement and continue playing in the NFL.
And as part of that process, this appeared to backtrack on a promise that Brady would be spending more time with the family. But now that they have finalised their divorce, the duo did make it clear that they wanted to put their children first.
With that being said, Brady could not agree more. In his comments, he said: “I just wanna be the best dad I could be.” The primary way in which Brady hoped to achieve this was by following in the footsteps of his own parents.
He expanded on how they were very supportive of what he wanted to do. And in line with that philosophy, he is hoping to provide his children with as much encouragement as possible regardless of the career path that they decide to pursue.
Although that may be the case, there is an argument that Brady’s NFL career may hamper that. And yet, Tom did not seem fazed by those claims. His following comments confirmed as much: “You can do it, son. I just want to be that for my kids.”
The fans on social media were very hostile towards Tom. A significant proportion of the fanbase felt that this was simply a case of being too little, too late.
After all, there was always an opportunity to do this when he was with Gisele. One person wrote: “Brady could have tried that before the divorce,” while another person stated: “15 years too late.”
It is better late than never, but with hindsight, could this attitude have prevented his divorce. After all, spending time with the children was what Gisele was wanting from Brady in the first place.
