Aaron Rodgers Told Adam Schefter To “Lose My Number” and is Treated like a Leaving Brett Favre by Fans

With the news that Aaron Rodgers is leaving the Green Bay Packers for the New York Jets, there have been varying reactions to the potential trade.

It looks like it’s going to be a done deal at some point once both sides agree to the right compensation for the trade to go through, but Rodgers hasn’t been one to talk about his future.

He’s been so tight lipped that Adam Schefter wasn’t able to learn anything as he managed to find Rodger’s phone number but it didn’t work out like he expected.

    Not taking the bait

As reported by foxnews.com, Rodgers revealed on Wednesday (March 15) that he’s planned to play for the New York Jets for several days, but there have been few reports on the move happening.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter gave it a good shot when he managed to get Rodgers’ phone number and texted him.

Rodgers talked about it on “The Pat McAfee Show” about it and told everyone to “Ask Schefter what I said to him.”

Schefter didn’t wait for anyone to ask as he Tweeted Rodgers’ response to “Lose my number. Good try tho.”

Schefter wasn’t the only one to reach out to Rodgers as said ESPN’s Diana Russini tried to contact him but he didn’t respond, and Russini reported that Rodgers has a wish list of free agents he wanted the Jets to sign.

Rodgers said that wasn’t true, but the Jets did ask him about what former teammates he spoke highly about.

That sounds like the Jets are intent on making their team as attractive and productive for him as possible, and they did sign Allen Lazard to a four year $44 million dollar deal on Tuesday.

    Not feeling the love

Fans have responded like many would expect, and he’s been treated in the comments section in much the same way Brett Favre was when he left Green Bay.

It’s a largely even split as many are appreciative of what he’s done for the Packers throughout his career, while others are shoving him out the door for not winning more despite football being a team sport.

It’s pretty regular for fans to single out the most visible player and blame them for any woes, but a lot of the vitriol could be fans that are upset to see him go.

Wherever he goes, there’s not denying he had a Hall of Fame run in Green Bay and it’ll be interesting to see how he does in New York. One thing’s for sure, it’s going to be interesting hearing how he handles it.

What do you think about him leaving and going to the Jets like Favre did? Let us know in the comments below.
