All Elite Wrestling brings us another episode of AEW Dynamite, rolling on with Cody making his way out! In spite of the loss this Saturday, the crowd is waaaay into Cody even after a commercial break. He gets on the mic and says he doesn’t know if he wants to broach the subject of what it feels like personally to lose to MJF. Big boos. But he knows how it feels professionally. You work hard as a professional wrestler to get onto the PPV card, and when you get on there, it’s guaranteed money. But if you win get more, and it’s the winner’s share of the purse. It’s gone from professional to personal and professional again. He can’t deal with it, the lashings and the loss, the only way he thinks he could cope is if MJF made his way out here right now.
But instead… out comes Jake the Snake Roberts?!
Big chant of “Jake the Snake”. Says he hates to spoil the party but damn man, he got sick of hearing him cry and bitch. He never cried about one match in his career. Berates him for letting that little bitch get to him. Don’t you understand you got your ass kicked? Jake says Hail Ceaser but he didn’t come to praise him, he came to slay him. Because he has a client. The dark side is coming to AEW. Says it took him 20 years to get here, to get clean and sober, get his mind right. And if you think he’s here to be a nice boy, you got another thing coming.
For years he came out with a snake in a bag just to get people afraid. He doesn’t need it any more. He’ll be out there at ringside with his client and Cody can bring his one trick pony Arn Anderson with him if he’d like. Says he’s not here for the whole pie… just your share. Oh Ceaser, my Ceaser… Jake mentions how you should never turn your back on a man you respect or a man that you fear. He then drops the mic and turns to leave, and Cody is floored.
I think it’s safe to say that nobody saw that one coming, I didn’t hear a peep about this. But man, now that Jake’s got everything sorted, him being a manager sounds like such a great idea. Wonder who he’s got in store… Brodie Lee maybe? Hrm…
