A Calgary man was arrested after smuggling cocaine into Canada. On November 21, 2022, the Integrated Border Enforcement Team—made up of the RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency, and Calgary Police Service—stopped truck driver Jagroop Singh (25) in Coutts, a border town in Alberta.

According to the Alberta RCMP, 53 kilograms of coke was seized and has an estimated street value of roughly $5.3 million. The drugs were hidden among produce but are now in IBET custody as their investigation continues.
Jagroop Singh was charged with importing a controlled substance as we as possession of a controlled substance.He was slated for court on November 29. CBSA Regional Director Brad Wozny said of the bust:
“By stopping illegal drugs at the border, we’re keeping our communities safe. This seizure is another great example of the ongoing cooperation between the CBSA, the RCMP and the Calgary Police Service in securing our borders.”
