Matt Hardy is now a free agent in professional wrestling. After an uneventful stint in WWE outside of some tag team title runs with his brother Jeff, he is finally free to flex his creative muscles once again. The most likely destination for him is going to be All Elite Wrestling, where many believe he will be ‘The Exalted One’ of The Dark Order. While many other options were teased, the most recent tweet was more than just a hint to those who look even a bit deeper into it.
Spelling Out Matt Hardy
In the latest tease for The Exalted One, they tweeted out an image containing the following.
“MADE FROM THE VOID OF HOPELESSNESS
AND FROM TIME SPENT AWAY WITH THE SHADOWS
THIS IS WHAT IT TOOK FOR ME TO ARRIVE
THE CALLING….
HELLO?
ARE YOU THERE?
READY & WAITING
DARK ORDER WELCOMES ME
YOU ARE HERE”
It isn’t hard to see who they are referring to here, and it fits perfectly in-line with The Dark Order and their cryptic statements. The average person would read it, think it is non-sense and keep going. They have been teasing The Exalted One for so long however, that AEW fans are getting frantic and this all but confirms the theories of many.
Will He Wrestle In AEW, Or Just Be A Manager?
While Matt Hardy has had an incredible career and is a former multi-time world champion, his body is battered over a long career of risky spots. Seeing him wrestle recently on Monday Night RAW was like watching Kurt Angle in his last days. You can see that Hardy still knows what to do in the ring, but his body isn’t there with him. In 2018, he stated that his lower back and pelvis have begun to fuse together, citing the Event Omega as the culprit. Event Omega was his signature diving leg drop. This is just one injury which could mean that he will not be seen frequently in the ring, and is going to serve as a mouth piece for The Dark Order. He has a few matches left in him, and AEW will need to use them wisely.
