Washington Man Involved in Standoff with Authorities at a Courthouse Sees Bail Set At $1M
David Hsu (32) arrived at the courthouse at around 12:30 PM armed with guns, ammo, and wearing body armor. He demanded to see two judges and the sheriff in order to change his child custody arrangements.
Authorities arrived and ordered Hsu to drop his guns. While he kept his other weapons and refused to leave the courthouse, he did drop two rifles. Hsu and authorities were involved in negotiations for three hours before the suspect finally turned himself in without anyone being shot and killed.
Deputies seized the two rifles, four handguns, six knives, brass knuckles, a hatchet, body armor, and over 300 rounds of ammo. During the bail hearing for David Hsu his lawyer pushed for little or low bail since his client has no previous violent offenses or even a criminal record prior to the standoff.
Presiding Judge Jennifer Rancourt felt that there was probable cause due to the entire situation plus it occurred at a government institution. Hsu was given $1 million bail and remains behind bars on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful display of a weapon, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
