FTR are down one set of championships after ROH Final Battle, where The Briscoes would win the ROH World Tag Team Championships in a brutal Double Dog Collar match. There’s no shame in losing to a team like The Briscoes, but there is shame in attacking a team from behind after a bloody match. That is exactly what The Gunns would do – and FTR have promised to make them pay. Tonight, FTR has been given some microphone time – and will be using it to send a message.
Last week was not a great week for FTR, having failed to claim the AEW World Tag Team Championships, or losing the ROH World Tag Team Champions – or Dax Harwood breaking his ass bones. It’s because they felt like they let their fans down, after they’ve made 2022 the best year of FTR’s career. FTR owes the fans eternally for that.
But there are a few kids with Daddy Issues trying to get into the ring with FTR. The Gunns want to kill the legacy of FTR, but it will take more than some Dumbass Boys. Harwood knows that he’s been able to make fans feel something in their match with The Briscoes, and The Gunns screwed that up. So this coming Wednesday on AEW Dynamite Holiday Bash – it’s FTR vs. The Gunns.
Britt Baker Defeats Skye Blue With Ease
With time to kill between now and the big tag team match with Saraya and her mystery partner on January 11th, Britt Baker is looking to keep herself in top ring shape. The only way to do that is wrestle, and tonight she’s accepted a singles match with the rising star of Skye Blue. Having been training with Madison Rayne, Blue is constantly improving her skills – and has a chance to defeat a former AEW Women’s World Champion.
Baker would take Blue down to the mat as the match began, pulling her up into a butterfly suplex for a one count. Blue would take Baker down and head to the top rope, but Baker distracted the referee allowing Rebel & Jamie Hayter to prevent Blue from diving. Baker would hit a suplex, before a stiff forearm smash to the face.
Another butterfly suplex would get a two count, before some mocking kicks to the face from Baker would connect. Blue would get a two count off a well placed thrust kick, before being dropped with the slingblade. A Butterfly driver would get a two count, before Baker got the glove for Lockjaw.
Blue would hit a running knee strike into a roll up for a two count, before looking for the Code Blue. Baker blocked and hit a curb stomp for the victory – not even needing to use the Lockajw for the victory here tonight, but locking it in after the bell to send a message. Hikaru Shida would make the save, locking eyes with Hayter ahead of Dynamite where Hayter will defend the AEW Women’s World Championship for the first time.
Preston Vance Calls Negative One A Brat
Preston Vance has turned his back on The Dark Order and the fans of AEW. Going as far as to mock the son of Mr. Brodie Lee was a touch too much, but Vance doesn’t care – as now he’s running with the likes of RUSH. Tonight, he will sit down and speak with Jim Ross – and hopefully explain just why he would do such things.
Vance would justify that he would turn on Dark Order because they’re no family of his. He was handpicked by Brodie Lee, while no one else in Dark Order was. Negative One didn’t deserve his hand in life, but his spotlight in AEW turned him into a brat – and this was as message for him to grow up.
Will Preston Vance win gold in 2023? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
