Jamie Hayter intends to be a fighting champion in AEW, and would make the recent Regina Di WAVE Championship match between Hikaru Shida & The Bunny into a #1 contenders match. Shida was able to retain, and tonight has a chance to become a two time AEW Women’s World Champion as she goes one on one with Hayter. Hayter has promised her fans that she will beat Shida around the ring like they’re in 90’s All Japan Women’s Wrestling, and intends to enjoy every second of it.

Instantly Hard Hitting Action From Champion And Challenger

Hayter would swing a wild lariat as this match began, with Shida ducking and hitting some quick strikes. Shida would be forced to the ropes for a flurry of chops, and would respond with some forearm smashes – before more chops from Hayter. Some clubbing blows to the spine would follow, before Shida caught Hayter with a scoop slam and some grounded forearm smashes.

Hayter would be set up on the apron for the running knee lift, with the strike from Shida landing flush on the jaw. Shida would roll Hayter into the ring, following up with some strikes in the corner. Hayter would take the fight back to the floor, where she’d drive Shida into the ring steps and the barricade.

Shida was rolled into the ring, Hayter not wanting to win with a countout. Hayter would take some forearm smashes from Shida, before driving her challenger face first into the corner. Shida would be dropped with a snap jackhammer, but was able to kick out at two.

Hayter would take more forearm smashes from Shida, with Shida blocking a right hand and getting some free shots at the jaw as a result. The dropkick would drop Hayter, before some downward punches to the face in the corner. Hayter would hit a snapmare on the apron, before looking for a German Suplex to the floor.

Jamie Hayter Stumbles To Victory After Incredible Main Event

Shida would block before hitting a brainbuster to the floor, potentially taking the champion out in the process. Hayter would be able to get back into the ring by herself, narrowly avoiding losing via countout. Shida would keep the pressure on in the ring with an enziguri, before Hayter would be dropped with the jumping knee strike for a two count.

Diving knee strike would be followed by a Falcon Arrow, but Shida would only get a two count. Avalanche Falcon Arrow would be blocked, but Hayter would miss the moonsault before taking the sliding knee strike to the jaw. Katana Kick would be set, but Hayter would collapse before taking the kick.

Hayter was playing possum, setting up the Ushigoroshi and sliding lariat for a two count. HateBreaker would follow, but even that wasn’t enough to keep Shida down. Katana Kick would be avoided, but the Hayteraid Lariat would be countered with a German Suplex.

Britt Baker would get involved and dropped with the Venus Shoot, only for Hayter to be able to take advantage with a spike powerbomb for a two count. A lariat would follow, but Shida would once again kick out. Finally, Hayteraid would land – and Hayter remains AEW Women’s World Champion.

After the match, Baker would get some stomps in on Shida – with Toni Storm making the save. Will Storm get her rematch against Hayter to kick off 2023? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
